SISTERS OF CHARITY FOUNDATION AWARDS $1,088,533

Canton, Ohio (May 30, 2019) The Board of Directors of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton has announced $1,088,533 in grants for the first and second quarters of 2019.

Foundation President Joni Close stated, “The diversity of organizations serving our community is impressive. The passion and commitment of the frontline staff of these agencies is, quite simply, awe inspiring. Our hope is that as we continue striving to fulfill the mission of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine, we also recognize, support, and honor those individuals who make a difference.”

Grants were awarded to:

Responsive Efforts: Our commitment to respond to specific or short-term community needs. Total: $489,897

Canton Calvary Mission, to support its after-school program

Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio, to support the Southeast Renewal Project, over five years

Hammer and Nails, to support operations

JRC, to support the Meyers Lake capital project, over two years

Lighthouse Ministries of Canton, to support after-school and summer programming

Mercy Medical Center, to support the Immigrant Health Outreach program, over two years

NAMI of Stark County, to support a three-day, peer-to-peer mentor training workshop

Pegasus Farm, for consultation services to improve data collection systems and program evaluation

Stark County Job and Family Services, to support the Right Path for Fathers program

Walsh University, to support the Thea Bowman Scholars program, over two years

Based on the vision of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine, the Foundation is committed to addressing the needs of the poor and underserved by understanding the root causes of poverty, nurturing the growth of healthy communities, emphasizing youth and family, and measuring the outcomes of these efforts.
